THIS LAMP IS NOT A THING OF BEAUTY; IT'S LARGER AND REQUIRES MORE SPACE THAN YOU MIGHT EXPECT; THE ON-OFF SWITCH WOULD BE MORE CONVENIENT IF IT WERE IN THE BASE. ON THE OTHER HAND, IT'S SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO BE VERY STABLE AND THE LIGHT COULD NOT BE BETTER. IF YOU WANT A FINE, NEUTRAL WORK LIGHT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SEE CLEARLY WITHOUT GLARE AT A GOOD PRICE, YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY WITH THIS.

Like the other reviewer said this light is not a thing of beauty. However, the price is reasonable and it serves the purpose. The product came about a week after I ordered, and the packaging was great. They took care in appropriately packaging the bulb so that it didn't break while being shipped. The light is very bright that I can really see everything around my desk including all the dirt on my monitor. However, the light is too harsh for my eyes. I cannot put the light directly on my eyes, and the closer I get my face to the light the harsher it feels on my eyes. When I read, no matter how far from the light I am, I'll shed tears as long as I direct the light on my face. I also noticed that my eyes get itchy when I woke up in the morning, which is unusual to me. This is just me though, other buyers may be okay with it. I would have given it 5 stars had this not happened to me. I am giving this a 3 star just to warn buyers to be careful.
