Pretty sturdyMay 20, 2010 I bought this as a xmas gift for a friend. It seems to work and hold well. But my friend did complain that is sucks up a lot of battery and pc power. So, now she doesn't use the fan or turn it on...it is being used as a laptop support on a desk. hahahaha
NOISE!!May 19, 2010 Worked fine for a couple of months. Now, one of the two fans produces loud rattling sounds. Removed and cleaned to no effect. This device is simply cheap cheap cheap. Do not waste your money!!
T. ChristianMay 03, 2010 I received this stand today. I read the reviews from Amazon on it and considered it carefully. I figured from them that it couldn't be all that bad. The previous review to my own, however; is grossly understated. The main reason I got it was the fact that it was the ONLY laptop stand with fans on Amazon that would ship to an APO address.
To clarify, the construction of the item is EXTREMELY flimsy. I've seen Easy-Bake ovens and Lego builds that were sturdier. When I placed my 15" laptop on it, the stand almost seemed like it wanted to break under the weight. So forget about plugging in accessories like a keyboard or monitor. Granted I had the stand placed up on an incline (albeit the lowest grade incline possible), so I placed it flat. I still hear it squeaking and creaking as I type and use the touchpad. Also, the USB power port is the flimsiest one that I have ever seen. There is a blue LED that is supposed to stay lit when the power is on. The one on mine does not, unless I position the USB cable used for power JUST right. I even tried other cables... same result.
The reason the fans are so quiet is because the hardly force any air through them at all. To add to it, one fan runs considerably slower than the other. At first it was working at all, then it miraculously came on after cycling power a number of times. I performed what I call the "paper test". Basically, I put a strip of plain loose leaf paper in front of the out of the fan, about 1/2" to 1" away, then turn it on. The paper hardly moves. This is how I found one runs slower than the other.
In my opinion, this laptop stand is worth $3.00 at most at a garage sale. I certainly wouldn't buy it brand new from anywhere. I am returning my tomorrow and just going to wait until I get back to the states to buy a more sturdy and more reliable one that is worth what I pay for it.
Works WellApr 28, 2010 I'm pleased with this product with one exception, the UBS slots are spaced to close together.I find that generally I must leave one slot unused because of tight spacing.Having said that I find the stand sturdy and the cooling feature excellent.
Good laptop stand dockMar 11, 2010 It is good laptop stand dock! The build in fan is working well, but the usb power and the power switch to turn on/off the fan does not work well sometime. Just like when your laptop in sleeping mode or hibernating mode, the fan will stop automatically, but when you waken up the laptop - the fan does not work and either the fan power switch does not work also. You have to trun off the computer and then re-opened and the fan will work. lol.
